Monitor

How is DyKnow Monitor different than other classroom management software?

Unlike other classroom management software, DyKnow Monitor's unique central-server design reduces administrative requirements while allowing hundreds of computers to be monitored in wired and wireless computing environments. This means teachers and students can roam freely around the room, or even be outside the classroom and still experience the full functionality. Additionally, educators also have the ability to transfer digital files from their desktops to students through DyKnow Monitor.

To top it off, DyKnow's US-based technical support team is available without any hold-times and each school is assigned a customer relationship manager who conducts personalized training and assists with all aspects of the DyKnow deployment.

Why is DyKnow's design unique?

DyKnow uses a central server design which makes our products a scalable solution. This means few or hundreds of users can connect simultaneously without a significant decrease in performance. The design optimizes network performance and bandwidth, unlike peer-to-peer or multicast technology which bog down the system. While this does mean schools need a server to utilize the software, DyKnow offers ASP hosting services at an affordable rate for schools that do not have a server. For more information on server requirements please visit the Technical Center.

How do teachers monitor the correct student computers?

DyKnow Monitor identifies computers with machine-specific information and optional user information which is populated in the DyKnow database by a school's system administrator. DyKnow Monitor verifies this information by user login or even domain or LMS authentication. At the end of class, teachers can "release" student computers or wait for the next teacher to take over monitoring.

Does the software work in wireless environments?

DyKnow products are designed for 802.11x environments and the client-server design ensures the product can scale from few to hundreds of users without an interruption in usage.

How is the software licensed? What is the cost?

DyKnow Monitor is licensed per computer and is purchased as a perpetual license, allowing customers to use the software forever. For more on cost visit the DyKnow Monitor pricing page.

How is training delivered?

Customers have many options when it comes to training. Often, schools choose to have it delivered live via DyKnow Vision because the software works easily at a distance. However, all training is coordinated and delivered by your schools assigned customer relationship manager who assists with all aspects of implementation and training.

Does the software work on a Mac computer?

At this time DyKnow Monitor does not run on Mac OS X. However, we do support DyKnow Monitor on a Mac running Windows via Boot Camp.

Where can I find more information on the technical requirements?

Please visit the Technical Center for technical specifications, FAQs and video testimonials from Technology Directors using the software.

Does the software integrate with my other systems?

You can authenticate the DyKnow Software Suite to the student information system of your choice which eliminates the need to enter student names and class rosters multiple times. Additionally, authentication saves time because both systems are updated with any changes.

Can I get more interaction outside of just monitoring?

Yes, DyKnow Monitor can be purchased with DyKnow Vision, interactive education software, which combines the power of student response tools, content delivery, class capture software and anytime-anywhere access. When purchased as a bundle, DyKnow Vision and DyKnow Monitor use a single interface to keep students on task and foster interaction in the classroom. Both DyKnow Vision and DyKnow Monitor are easily managed through a web-based interface.
